In 2022 Emmanuel College celebrated 150 years of continuous Catholic education serving the families of Warrnambool and the local region since 1872.
As we “reimagine” the college for the twenty first century, Emmanuel staff and students will consolidate at the McAuley campus in Botanic Road in 2025 with Year 7 & 8 learning in the Goold Centre, Year 9 undertaking the exciting new 9@RICE Program in the Edmund Rice Centre, while Years 10-12 occupy the senior school and belong to a House based, vertical pastoral structure designed to enhance connection between students and staff members.
The Emmanuel College Vision is to build a dynamic learning community, bringing to life the gospels values of Faith, Hope and Love and continue the traditions of Catherine McAuley and Edmund Rice.
In line with its Guiding Principles the College employs staff who are progressive, innovative and principled life-long learners who value the privilege of shaping the learning of young people. If you seek to work in this type of environment or wish to express interest in a current or future position, use the application form to communicate and provide us with an insight in to what you could bring to the Emmanuel College learning community.
Applications and expressions of interest are treated as confidential and referee checks are completed after we have met with you. The College reserves the right to contact referees not listed on your resume.
This College community promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.
Warrnambool is Victoria’s fifth largest regional city with a population of 35,000. It really is an ideal location for anyone seeking their own sea or green-change!
APPLICATION PROCESS
Application form
The Child Safe Standards require schools to gather, verify and record a person’s history of work involving children. The College takes child safety and wellbeing seriously and for this reason, potential staff and volunteers are required to list their entire work history involving children.
The selection and interview process
Applicants will be selected and shortlisted by College leaders. A panel interview will be conducted with the aim of assessing the suitability of the person for the position. The interview will cover your suitability to support and champion a culturally diverse and safe environment for child safety and wellbeing.
Referee checks
Child safety and wellbeing is at the forefront of who we are and for that reason we make it a practice to conduct referee checks for potential staff to assess their suitability to work with children. The referee check is a discussion between the College and the nominated referee for the purpose of addressing the person’s suitability for the job and for engaging in child-connected work.
Pre-engagement Checks - Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) & Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration
All staff at Emmanuel College are required to maintain registration of either an employee WWCC or VIT card.
Induction
Induction to the College will be comprehensive and supportive. The induction process will communicate the College’s history, mission, vision and values, ethos, policies and procedures. Specific induction will focus on child safety and wellbeing. The induction will cover responsibilities under the College’s Child Safety Code of Conduct and the Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy. Other inductions will take place with IT, teaching & learning, the pastoral team and OH&S.
