Among the many highlights of Warrnambool’s May Racing Carnival, the annual CBC Catch-Up was once again a standout event for past students of CBC Warrnambool.

Held this year in the newly opened ERC building, the evening impressed attendees with its modern facilities—so much so that a few joked about wanting to return to school. The turnout was exceptional, with standing room only as alumni from CBC Warrnambool gathered to reconnect. Despite their varied backgrounds and life paths, all were united by a shared history and enduring friendships forged during their school years.

A highlight of the night was a moving address by Brother Brian Clery, who has devoted more than 70 years to the Christian Brothers. Teaching in Warrnambool from 1957 to 1963, he was known as a talented sportsman, a masterful storyteller, and a man of great character. Deeply loved and respected, his words resonated with all in attendance. Even decades later, his former students still look up to him, both in admiration and stature. His reflections offered timeless wisdom on the value of education and the lifelong impact a teacher can have.
