On Saturday 21st October, we had the pleasure of being a part of the reunion of the St Ann’s & CBC Classes of 1973 as they celebrated their 50 years on milestone. Organised by Gerardine McLoughlin, Brendan O’Toole, Colleen Hollingsworth and Ann Cameron, alumni came from near and far to reminisce and have some laughs along the way.

Opportunities to come together spanned the weekend. Beginning on the Friday night, alumni came together for casual drinks at Frolic Lane, followed by College tours and a sit down dinner at Pippies by the Bay on the Saturday.

Saturday’s College Tours kicked off with the boys exploring their campus at Canterbury Road. Enjoying the walk and the banter, they decided to stay on and joined the girls for their tour at Botanic Road. The boys shared stories of blazer tallies, the handball courts and general classroom antics, while the girls tried to orient themselves in relation to the red veranda, and the stairs to the borders’ dormitories.

Organiser, Gerardine McLoughlin commented “I can't tell you how nice it will be to see everyone again.” Gerardine also highlighted the uniqueness of a friendship that goes back so far, that they not only remember you, but your parents.

The feedback since has been overwhelmingly positive. Brendan O’Toole highlighted, “Everyone has said it was just wonderful. We’re so glad it happened.” Brendan also reflected, “When having conversations, it was interesting learning of commonalities in our lives since school.”

The success of the event sees the group keenly planning another one for 5 years’ time. Ensure your details are up to date to receive information about the event.
