On Saturday 21st October, the Class of 1993 converged on Warrnambool to reconnect after 30 years on from school. Organised by Emma Watty, Shannon Rea and Sam Tuck, the trio went above and beyond to make all their classmates feel welcome, while ensuring that there was plenty of early 90’s nostalgia to help everyone remember their formative years.

The activities started with a school tour, which brought out a plethora of entertaining stories of classmates and their teachers, along with debate over the location of time capsules buried on campus.

The party moved onto the Royal Hotel, where the room had been set up beautifully, with photo boards in every corner of the room, the perfect 90’s playlist, and some “old school” cocktails available at the bar, the scene was set for a great evening right from the start. Attracting over 60 classmates from across the country, all reports indicate that the place was alive with laughter and happy chatter throughout the night.

Organiser, Emma Watty reflected “so many people said that they were anxious about going, but as soon as they walked through the door, it was like we’d never been apart. It felt like coming home to old friends.”

In his address to the group, Sam Tuck genuinely acknowledged all those present and away “We’ve had some brilliant times at school. The people that aren’t here tonight, for a multitude of reasons, they formed part of our school experience, and they are as much a part of our group as everyone here tonight.”

Following the event, Shannon Rea reflected, “I can say, I felt so proud to look out at a sea of beaming faces on Saturday, and feel proud to be part of something special, that we all are, which is a random bunch of people born in during the years of ‘75-‘76 who are basically a big melting pot of special people who are a gorgeous combination of friends, old and new, who will always be, the class of ‘93.”
