Eric Howard AM is a proud graduate of CBC College, class of 1965. His mother Teresa, father Leo, 6 siblings and wife Mary (Murnane) were also graduates of St Ann’s and CBC. He is forever grateful and sees his role as a director as an opportunity to support and assist Emmanuel College to develop a successful Foundation.
He was the inaugural Chief Executive of the Shire of Yarra Ranges from 1994 and Deputy Chief Executive (Acting Chief Executive for most of 1990) and General Manager Operations/ City Engineer, City of Melbourne from 1985. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and a Company Director’s Diploma from the University of New England, and in 2018 was awarded Australian Honours as a Member of the Order of Australia for his service to road transport safety through consultancy roles, to professional bodies, and to the community.
Eric says “My secondary schooling at CBC was an enjoyable and comprehensive preparation for life.
My involvement now with the Foundation is motivated by the opportunity to encourage some economic support to be available to better enable certain students in the Warrnambool district to fully complete their secondary education at Emmanuel College.
This will provide these young people, particularly those from financially disadvantaged families, with access to improved options for their futures and further encourage them to become the best they can be, based on the knowledge and skills they will develop and the values they will absorb alongside their fellow students”.
