Steve loved his time as a student at CBC during which time he was a Prefect and Senior Sports Captain, completing his education in 1986. He says he was fortunate to be taught by some great teachers who brought out his best and instilled a love of learning. His three sisters, father Brian and wife Jenny (Mugavin) also attended CBC, St Ann’s or Emmanuel College.

Following his schooling, Steve headed off to Deakin University obtaining a Bachelor of Business (Accounting). For the past 22 years Steve has worked in the family business, Callaghan Motors and became Dealer Principal in 2004. In 2017 he moved the dealership to new state of the art facility with five brands and two supporting businesses.

Steve is committed to a role as a Director of the Foundation due to his family’s long and beneficial relationship with the College. Steve states, “the teachers at CBC encouraged me to do my best but they also encouraged me to participate in learnings that were of an interest to me. This support assisted me to focus on deriving the best benefits from my education.

"There was never any doubt in my mind about where I wanted my kids to go to school. I wanted them to have the same experiences and opportunities I had, so I enrolled them at Emmanuel College. They’re as happy there as I was. As a parent, that’s the most important thing for me”.
